Be Here Instead emerged from a wild alchemy of instinct, ingenuity, and joyfully determined rule-breaking. 


In a stark contrast to Millsap's typical writing style, Be Here Instead was created by experimenting with everything from piano to effects pedals to old-school drum machines. He soon arrived at a body of work touched with both unbridled imagination and lucid insight into the search for presence in a chaotic world.
“They feel like words I needed to hear from myself, and not just things I wanted to say to someone else,” Millsap asserts.
Although Be Here Instead often finds him wandering into new terrain, the album remains firmly grounded in the sophisticated musicianship he began honing as a kid growing up in the small town of Purcell. 

In looking back on the making of Be Here Instead, Millsap points out that his recently discovered love of painting also informed the free-flowing creativity he brought to the album. “My wife’s grandfather was an artist who did watercolor paintings, and a few years ago I decided I wanted to try it,” he says. “I very quickly found out that watercolors are really hard to work with: you have to embrace your mistakes, and then let them guide you along. It’s made me think about how when you mess up, you’re basically revealing your humanity, which is what music’s all about. When I listen to records, I love when Ray Charles’s voice cracks, or when you hear the squeaking of the kick-drum pedal on a Led Zeppelin song. Anything that shows the living, breathing quality of the whole thing—that’s always wonderful. That’s what we’re here for. So don’t be afraid to let it happen.”

Being aggressive ultimately makes transactions take longer. Everything we get goes out the day we get it. Logistics in music isn't fun for you or us. We do our best to communicate the latest known dates, but some of you like artists who are challenged at getting their stuff out on time. We get that.
Do we make mistakes? Of course, but it's fewer than 0.5% of orders. And when we do, we fix it.





Shipping



All orders over $100, signed covers, and box sets are shipped in whiplash or better boxes. We use bags unlimited mailers for all other vinyls. We NEVER use the 12x12x.5 mailers the college gotta sell to pay the credit card boys use.
We ship worldwide using DHL. It should takes 2-5 days to most countries. Reminder, DHL will charge you respective duties on the shipment.  We only seek to charge actual shipping cost. If you think it's too high, let us know.
Standard shipping is to US is free. If it's not, email us to ask why. It might be a mistake.
Need this in a hurry? Before 2PM, we offer same day UPS/Fedex 2 day shipping on Shipping for $12 to 99% of the US. We are based out of Seattle so 99% of shipments to WA/Oregon before 2PM will be in your hands in 2 days.  If you're within in Western Washington, most packages are received next business day.
In Even more of a hurry? UPS next day saver is $40 to most locations. 

Most ground packages to Nevada/Colorado, Norcal, Oregon, Idaho, and WA are 2-3 days 
Arizona is usually 3-4.
